Janel spent over 20 years in the advertising branding communications industry at renowned global network and boutique agencies. Primarily based in Singapore and Shanghai, she has collaborated with a diverse range of international blue chip and local brands across various industries, both in B to B and B to C capacities.

She believes that one must care about the brand, the work, the team and the stakeholders of the project to create great work. Her awards achieved in the industry is testament to the magic combination of dedication, passion and team-work from all stakeholders.

Janel has the same commitment to the ocean. She’s an active professional in the dive travel tourism industry. She works hard in areas of conservation and sustainability, donating time as VP of Communications at Ocean Geographic. She is also a Board Member of Deep Hope, a non-profit organisation based in the US, chaired by Dr. Sylvia Earle, a beacon of inspiration for Janel since her twenties. She is also the founder of Blue Earth Environment, a non-profit organisation based out of Singapore.

Yu was born in Hong Kong and grew up in the U.K. In 1993, he began his advertising career as an art director in London creating famous campaigns for the UK market. In 2011, he moved to China to share and expand his knowledge.

As a creative and filmmaker, he is passionate about storytelling and the craft behind it. He cares deeply about the work, and constantly pushes for bold, standout creative.

Yu has amassed decades of creative experience, pitch wins and creative awards for clients such as: LG, Samsung, Coca Cola, Unilever, Budweiser, Baileys, Johnnie Walker, Madrid Turismo, BMW, MINI, Audi, Land Rover, Jaguar, CCTV, Midea, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Vodafone, Tiffany & Co. Ralph Lauren, Marni and Grab.

In addition to writing and directing commercials, Yu co-produced and co-directed a 1 hour documentary 'COVID: Our Lockdown in Shanghai'. It was aired globally on The Smithsonian Channel in 2020. He is currently working on a feature length documentary about a family helping build China's high speed railway stations.
